Both Sharks classes are a part of our afterschool care program that includes after-school pick-up (depending on the school), arts and crafts, gym time, board and dramatic play time, and outside play. All Sharks classes meet in the downstairs Bistro. They get a healthy afternoon snack and spend some time working on any homework they may have. School may over but the students still have learning opportunities. The afterschool curriculum covers weekly themes usually following the seasons and holidays with an emphasis on arts, crafts, and social emotional learning thru play. We have card games, costumes, chapter books and more to keep the kids entertained while they spend time getting to know a variety of children and trying new things.
Each child is a special creation of God. Each child comes to this school with a unique understanding of the world, a unique set of values, a unique family lifestyle, and a unique set of emotional and physical needs. Our goal is to take each child and nurture their individuality. We cannot give a greater gift to a child than self-esteem. When children value themselves and feel secure in their surroundings, they are free to explore, investigate, and learn. In working toward this goal, we will help the children understand God’s love for them.
Our teachers exemplify God’s loving concern using positive reinforcement techniques to modify behavior that is inappropriate. We use positive examples and language. We praise children often. We also redirect by using positive phrases.

This program begins on the Monday of the first week of school for Pflugerville ISD.
We pick-up from the following schools:
Brookhollow, Carpenter, Highland Park, Mott, Murchison, Pflugerville, Riojas, Rowe, Springhill, Timmerman, Wieland, and IDEA Elementary Schools for students enrolled in our school age after-school care program.
After pick-up, students arrive in the Bistro and are given an afternoon snack. Here students have time to finish homework, play learning games, and spend time with their peers. Like all the previous classes they are given outside time, gym time, and arts and crafts time based on the school’s weekly theme.
Students in our Afterschool Program usually attend after school daily and most PfISD closures. Full day care is offered for spring, winter, and summer breaks for an additional fee upon enrollment availability.
We welcome the participation of parents/guardians, other family members, and friends in the activities and functions of ILDS. We invite and encourage them to visit our school at any time during our hours of operation to observe their child, ILDS’s operation, and program activities. Please let your child’s teacher and ILDS Management know if you have any questions or concerns about your child, or if you would like to be more involved at ILDS. If at any time a parent/guardian wishes to schedule a conference with their child’s teacher and/or ILDS Management, they may do so by calling the office at (512) 251-4929.
